Whenever it rains you need to keep the rain off the windshield in order to maintain your view and safety. The wiper blades are made out of rubber/plastic and polymers (I don’t know what the difference is anymore as they all look and feel the same – some can be quite pricy, however), this perishes over time. If there is any damage to your wiper blades then this could result in an unsatisfactory finish and could easily render them ineffective in a rain or snow storm.  To put it simple, worn windshield wipers are bad and can get you killed so please pay attention to them.

If you put your wiper blades on and they make a screeching noise then you could either do as my wife did and resist using them at all costs (very unsafe)! Or you could find out what the problem is. If the windshield is too dry then it could cause this, however it’s likely that the windshield wiper blades are pressing too hard against the glass. This is pretty easy to adjust, just play about until you get it just right. 

It is a good idea to routinely check your windshield wiper blades and if you live in a snowy and freezing climate to replace the wipers every year.  Freezing conditions will quickly tear up wiper blades.  Always remove all ice from your windshield with an ice scraper before turning on your windshield wipers.  This ice will quickly ruin your wipers regardless what brand and if they are made up of synthetic polymers or just plain rubber.
