You may have already heard of the recent rise in staged car accidents and related insurance fraud, or maybe you haven’t yet. You may have seen it on TV or in the news. Regardless of what you have seen and know, this type of fraud is growing faster than anyone anticipated and is costing billions of dollars and has even been figured to add $300 per year to each persons auto insurance premium on average. Its sick, its growing exponentially and, unfortunately it is most likely coming to a town near you if it isn’t already there.
So, what exactly is a staged car accident and what can you do to stop this? It usually involves multiple parties or persons and involves their collusion prior to the accident. Usually a group of nefarious individuals (these groups are usually also behind welfare, social services and other forms of fraud – its kind of interesting that many state and federal investigators usually uncover parrallel frauds and even find and arrest the perps as they are committing even more similar fraud) looking to take advantage of the system will get together and plan out the whole event sometimes even including corupt attorneys, doctors, and even police officers. These people have found a way to tweak the system to their benefit and would rather collect a paycheck from taxpayers then work.

It could be a car running a red light or stop sign in a rural area with staged bystanders whom will state you ran the red light or stop sign when in actuallity the other party did it. They could be the two vehicles infront of you and then cut you off in a way you couldn’t anticipate. Or, most commonly now, it could be the innocent looking driver waving you on to pull out of your parking spot and then they run right into you and say they never waved you on – this happens a lot know and you need to watch out for this. Don’t go by age and think it is only young people doing this – that would be a big mistake as this fraud involves even elderly people.
Regardless of how it happens, staged car accidents usually have one thing in common – they pack their vehicles full of people whom will all claim neck and head whiplash injuries and similar. These injuries are often times hard to diagnose and they are trained and know exactly how to fake it and whom to contact (like aggressive lawyers that don’t care if it is wrong). Some supposed victims have even been caught with faked bruises or bruises that were purposely done and didn’t correspond with the actual accident in question after a thorough investigation.
