When you go into almost any service repair shop like Sears Automotive service centers you will see large ads for shocks and struts.  Usually they even have them graded from good, better and best (the cloud 9 ride).  Many will tell you just like your new car dealer that replacement is recommended at certain mileages much like for oil changes and similar routine services.  They may say it is recommended every 40,000 miles to every 60,000 miles.  But, the question is are they right, about what will it cost and when is it really needed?
