So, fuel additives do work to make your car run cleaner and better and will clean a dirty engine (within limits I’m sure). But did you know that they will also increase the octane rating of your gas, increase gas mileage and increase performance? Yes. They can take your lowest octane gas and make it run like the highest octane or super premium or better and for less money.
Just think about it, it all depends on where you are in the country and what your current gas prices are, but there is usually a difference now of $.30 to over $.60 per gallon between regular unleaded and the highest premium octane at the same pump. Now multiply that by how many gallons it takes to fill up your tank. That’s a difference of $4.50 to over $9.00 if it only takes 15 gallons for a fill up. A fuel additive only costs from $1 (Walmart generic brand) to a maximum of around $4 or so (national name brands). And you only need 1 bottle of fuel additive per gallon (be sure to read the labels and also use Google to research them as some are better and more effective than others).
So, it wouldn’t hurt to use a fuel additive to promote a cleaner and more efficient engine and get better gas mileage. Be sure, however to check your vehicles owners manual and the directions on the fuel additive to make sure this is okay for your engine and that it will not void any warranties. It also wouldn’t hurt to ask your local mechanic or auto technician for their advice on fuel additives for your specific car or truck and which one they recommend.
