If after this you still need or want to drive your own vehicle, there are several ways you can conserve and save on your gas costs.  First of all is to make sure all of your tires are properly inflated to the maximum psi rating for your tires.  Be careful not to get overzealous with your fuel economy savings by over inflating your tires.  Yes, the more the pressure in the tires past a certain point, the less the contact area and the greater the fuel savings, but this isn’t safe as you need this same contact area for safe and emergency breaking as well as steering and control.  Just keep the tires inflated at the maximum allowable or manufacturer recommended pressure (this can be found in either your car’s owners manual or the warranty paperwork that came with your last set of tires).
