All about extended warranties Previous page
If you do want an extended warranty, and
there are reasons that you would. If you do 100,000 miles a year, then the
standard 36,000 miles warranty won’t even cover you for half a year. You don’t
have to get this extended warranty from your dealer, you can have a look
around, and even if you want the dealers warranty you still have 30 days after
purchase to buy their quoted warranty. Most people would benefit from purchasing
an extended warranty for their car, however not from the garage or car dealer.
Due to the car being more likely to break down the older it is, the extended
warranty should be cheaper the sooner that you purchase it. Some dealers don’t even mention this
extended warranty to the buyer of the car, they just automatically add it onto
the invoice because they think everybody would want it! This is called packing the payments and,
although it is highly illegal in every state, it is still common practice at
many car dealerships nationwide (especially if you are a woman or a minority –
don’t believe me? Look it up on Google
or Yahoo. Look under car dealer scams
and extended warranty scams. Don’t be
surprised if you find your local car
dealer listed as one of the offending parties).

Buying a new car is designed to be very
exciting so you get caught up in the excitement and so many people may fail to
notice the price hike when they sign, or they become utterly lost in the size
of the payments and not what the real costs are! A good rule is never talk payments – always
decide on price first and get your financing and extended warranty pricing in
place before you purchase a new or used car – you will have great bargaining
power and save thousands of dollars! Even though it’s exciting you must
thoroughly check all the paperwork, don’t rush. Don’t ever sign anything that
is not completely filled out for you and if something doesn’t look right than
walk. Remember car dealers can be quite
shady and are known for taking advantage of the unsuspecting to get every
dollar they can out of you. You just
have to find one that isn’t shady to do business with and it can be like
finding a needle in a haystack or worse (there are a few honest car dealers out
there, but not many – a helpful tip here is you will find a higher percentage
of honest car dealers in more rural areas.
Big cities are not usually the place to find honest salespeople and
managers). Remember it’s not Christmas,
and you’re not frantically tearing the paper off your presents! It’s something
you must take your time over as you will end up paying big over many years if
you make a mistake and let the dealer make too much money off you in an extremely
overcharged extended warranty, car protection program or similar. Next page
