Yes, you heard that right car arson being committed by extremists that are mad at the wealthy and rich in these bad economic times is gaining popularity in Europe right now as we speak. In Germany youths and younger people between the ages of 20 and 35, some on their own and others' as parts of different movements and groups, have been torching, blowing up, vandalizing and otherwise rendering useless numerous upper-class vehicles. From Mercedes-Benzs to Porsches and more they've even made some areas on livable for the wealthy so that the wealthy have had to relocate and move to areas where these groups and extremists don't exist.
These extremists that are doing this are doing it because they're mad at the economy. They're mad that while they've lost their jobs or are facing economic hardships that wealthy are sitting on easy street. Now this may not necessarily be true because a lot of rich people have also lost money in this recession (or as it should really be called and referred to the Depression of 2009). Regardless these extremists are revolting against what they see as symbols of wealth.
Now just because it is only happening in Germany and in some infrequent areas in other countries in Europe, doesn't mean that it won't grow expand into the United States, Canada, South America and maybe even Russia and China. When too many people get upset because they can't afford the necessities of life (meaning that they can't afford to put a roof over their head, to feed themselves and their children, and have lost all hope) they tend to rally around those that fight or claim to fight for them. These extremists and numerous political groups see this as an opportunity to gain members, to gain fame and popularity, and even to gain funding and more.
Do you have cloudy, worn, dirty, yellowed and ugly headlight lenses on your car or truck?
After a short while the extremists whip up the atmosphere into a frenzy and this frenzy then results in arson, assaults, murders, plundering, even full scale riots. Full scale riots are nothing new to the United States as we had or have had several riots over the years, but this could easily gain traction into something that we have never seen in our recent past or in a long, long time. The economy is in a very bad recession right now. Many people including myself think it is actually what we should be called a general depression because that's exactly where it is headed.
A depression means a greater loss of jobs (the great depression head job losses as high as 30% or even more in some areas of the country), basic economic collapse, starvation for many people that have no money and no funds or assets to rely on, etc. if you look at pictures of the Great Depression you'll see people selling anything that they had just to get money for food. There were bread lines that were literally miles long just to get some food for their families. At the same time the rich, many of which were able to withdraw their funds early before everyone else, had the higher more bodyguards to keep the jobless and poor away from them.
Many crime syndicates to include the various Italian Mafia families, the Polish families, Russian families and even the Jewish mafia all flourished during the bout of the Great Depression and for many years thereafter. This was because they fed on everyone's despair. This is what's starting to happen now in Germany and will quickly spread to other economies in countries as this recession continues to deepen and turn into a depreesion.

Hopefully Pres. Obama sees this for what it is has what could be a potential calamity that could easily equal or even beat the Great Depression and he and his team get together and do whatever it takes to fix it. It took a huge amount of spending in the years after 1929 for Pres. Roosevelt with his new deal of infrastructure spending to bring us out of the Great Depression. It will take much, much more for Pres. Obama to take us out of this serious recession (or depression as you might as well just start calling it because we're there whether they want to admit it or not). They may need and probably will need another stimulus package or two to get unemployment to stop the spiraling multiplying downward effect.
If this doesn't happen and it does grow to be where it could be headed. You will see arsonists torching cars of the wealthy here in the US and in Canada and other countries that are havens for the rich. If you don't think this could happen just go to your local unemployment office or to a job fair and listen to the general anger at Wall Street, politicians and generally the rich and wealthy in our country for letting this happen. Listen to the despair that people not being able to find a job at all let alone one that could pay their bills. The general consensus now is that you will wait on average at least six months to one year before finding a job. In some cases it could be even several years. Some families have had to move back in with their parents or relatives as they could no longer afford their own housing.
Many people have had to choose between making a car payment, a mortgage payment or putting food on the table. This is just plain sad and basically not how you look at it it really was caused by wanton greed. Just think about when you have CEOs that make $90 million a year, and their job really isn't a lot that they do it's kind of like a reward or perk to get that job, and they continue to make that kind of money when the companies are losing billions of dollars and instead of cutting the executives pay what they do they can lay off thousands and thousands of hard-working, honest people.

How many CEOs do you see right now that of their own accord are going and cutting their salaries so that they can keep their employees rather than laying them off or firing them or whatever? Not many. If they do anything like that it's only because they were forced to buy the board of directors or from public influence or political influence like with the government mandating that CEOs of banks that they've given bailout money to cannot be paid more than $500,000 a year.
You know you just have to ask yourself this question - if you got paid $90 million a year what would you do with all that money? For anyone that would be like winning the lottery. You could retire after one year's work and live high Omaha for the rest of your life. There is no need for these excessive salaries 90 million or even 50 million or whatever per year. So in reality, these billions and billions of dollars in losses caused by the banks and Wall Street and many companies (like General Motors and others) out there are really caused by excessive executive compensation over the years.

How can you pay an executive $15 million, $90 million, whatever per year in salary and compensation and other perks when their companies are losing money? And then it even gets worse with these golden parachutes where if an executive loses his job he gets paid millions to even hundreds of millions of dollars just because he was fired or forced out. In some cases this family reaps millions of dollars even long after they're dead. These golden parachutes are also part of this problem because that money to finance this ridiculous golden parachute idea has to come from somewhere.
Somehow there needs to be a limit on this excess executive compensation, a complete removal of golden parachutes as that is just ludicrous, and some serious regulation by the government into these matters because obviously the free market system has a serious problem here. There needs to be some serious money is kicked in above and beyond the bailouts in the current stimulus package to give the economy a serious jumpstart and reverse its downward direction. The current multiplying effect on unemployment needs to be stopped in its tracks or else car arson and other economic related protesting, demonstrations and more will result. Hopefully this economic things can get handled before the car arsons and other demonstrations going on in Europe go global. If not more than once a pretty interesting news to be watching shortly. Good luck and let's all look forward to a hopefully better 2010.
