Sometimes they will come out without a score and mark it up with red ink on minor items that have little or no effect for people with good credit so they too will accept worse terms and interest rates which will add to the dealers profit greatly.  These are scam tactics in current use at almost every car dealer.  If you go in armed with your credit score you will know they are playing with the rate, catch them at their game and find that you can get a much, much better deal (especially when the finance manager knows they’ve been caught and can get in serious legal trouble for this).

Now back to restoring or building your credit back to good status.  Now that you have your credit report, look it over for any errors.  This may sound stupid, but it has been stated that between 25 and 50% of all credit reports contain errors which can greatly affect credit scores.  Are there any accounts that are old and should be automatically removed?  Most derogatory credit items fall off after seven years (bankruptcies after 10 years).  Sometimes some unscrupulous credit and collection agencies will try and relist old debt with different account #’s and such to try and force you to pay on debt which is uncollectable.
