Car repair and service scams and how to avoid being scammed especially for single mothers
Previous page
If you are a single mother and don’t feel comfortable in dealing with a stranger off of Craig’s List coming to your house to fix your car – which I can completely understand – a great alternative is to ask at your church or your local churches (if you don’t already belong to one). Someone at your church is a mechanic or knows someone they can recommend and if your still not comfortable ask one of your male neighbors or a family member or friend to come over and be there while the mechanic is there. You probably find someone that will do it for even lower through your local church because they are usually doing it for the sake of helping someone rather than solely for a profit. Many larger churches now offer free or low price Saturday car care or similar programs for single mothers and for those with low incomes and financial hardships. Ahh, if only that service advisor that tried to scam me would attend his local church and try to be honest and change his ways. Good luck with your endeavors, don’t over pay for service and car parts, and attend your local church (you’ll be better for it).
